About Me
My name is David Hansen. I'm a chartered tax consultant in Belgium with 20+ years of experience in international mobility, with a specialisation in Belgian and international personal tax.
During my career at EY Belgium (2004 to 2025) I have provided advisory and compliance services to international and domestic clients with respect to their employees and executives.
I'm currently working for Konsilanto, a Belgian full service accountancy firm, as a business advisor. In this role, I'm handling complex international tax questions and I'm assisting the inhouse payroll office and our clients with questions relating to employment law, international social security, payroll and comp&ben/package optimization.
The above allowed me to gain an extensive and expert knowledge on
- Belgian taxation for resident and non resident individuals;
- advisory and compliance services with respect to the Belgian special income tax regime for expatriates;
- stock based compensation (stock options, RSU, warrants etc);
- implement optimized employment setups for employees and directors, taking into account tax, social security, immigration and employment law aspects;
- setting up complex cross border payroll systems (salary split, commuters, assignees), collaboration with clients and payroll providers, reviewing payslips;
- compensation and benefits such as bonus schemes, benefits in kind, legal and extra-legal pension, share based compensation, flexible remuneration, mobility, management companies;
- various employment law related topics such as drafting of employment contracts, policies, assignment letters, etc;
- full management of client accounts, ensuring client satisfaction and client development
- organization and management of tax compliance services (tax returns, tax inquiries, audits etc) for local and international clients
